Privacy Policy

Mansi Agarwal ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Mantra Chanting: Japa Mala mobile application for iOS and watchOS, and the Mantra Chanting: Japa Counter Android edition. Your privacy is of paramount importance to us. Our software is built from the ground up to respect your personal boundaries and explain how practice features and third-party services handle information.
1. iOS/watchOS local progress and third-party services
We do not operate external web servers, databases, or cloud accounts to log your meditation records. All information you configure in the app — including custom focus mantras, session targets, running streaks, and historical completion logs — is saved locally on your device or in your personal iCloud container. We have no access to this data and cannot compile, share, or sell it.
2. iOS/watchOS acoustic analysis processing
To enable hands-free acoustic counting:
- Microphone Input: The app utilizes the device microphone to detect sound peak classifications. This audio stream is processed instantly in the device's volatile memory and is never saved or exported.
- Speech Recognition: Speech recognition uses Apple speech services with your permission. Processing availability depends on the device, language and recognition service; do not assume every recognition request stays on-device.
3. StoreKit 2.0 & Apple Purchases
All in-app purchases and subscriptions are handled securely through Apple's native App Store checkout interface. No credit card information, billing details, or user identity parameters are shared with us.
4. Google Firebase Analytics & Cloud Messaging
The app initializes Firebase Analytics on launch and sends app usage events such as session activity, selected modes and feature interactions, together with technical app/device information. Firebase can use app-instance identifiers; this data should not be described as guaranteed anonymous. Notification permission is separate. 5. Android edition: local practice, ads, analytics and notifications
The Android edition is in testing and is not yet publicly available. The microphone, speech, StoreKit and iCloud descriptions above apply to iOS/watchOS only. Android uses manual counting and local practice storage. You can export or import a JSON backup through the Android document picker; automatic cloud backup is not enabled. Exported files and shared cards may contain private mantra text, so choose trusted destinations.
The free Android edition uses Google AdMob for a Progress-screen banner and occasional frequency-limited interstitial ads after qualifying completed practices. Ads are outside active counting. Ad services may process device identifiers, IP-derived approximate location, ad interactions, diagnostics and performance information depending on configuration, region and consent. Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) handles applicable consent and privacy choices.
Firebase Analytics processes eligible app usage and technical events. Android collection follows analytics-storage consent or consent-not-required status; unknown or denied consent and previous explicit declines keep collection off. There is no separate analytics switch. Custom mantra text and religious selections are excluded from analytics events.
Remote notifications: Android uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to receive general practice updates and developer communications. FCM processes a device registration token and technical delivery information. Topic subscriptions separate Android test and release installations; topic names do not include your mantra, religion or practice history. New installations enable remote updates by default and request system notification permission on first launch on Android 13 or newer. If permission is denied, remote updates are disabled. Android 7–12 do not show this runtime permission dialog. You can turn remote updates off in the app’s Settings or manage notification permission in Android system settings. Disabling updates requests topic unsubscribe and token deletion; processing depends on network availability and may not be immediate. Local daily reminders are separate and do not require a remote campaign.
We do not require an Android account or upload your local practice journal to our own server. Removing local history does not automatically delete provider-held analytics, advertising or messaging records. Provider retention and processing follow their policies. iPhone advertising and privacy choices
The free iPhone app includes Google AdMob banners above Recent Sessions in Progress and above Sound in Settings, plus interstitial ads after completed chanting sessions. Premium users do not receive ad requests or ads. Apple Watch and widgets do not display ads. AdMob may process device identifiers, IP address, advertising interactions and diagnostic data to deliver and measure ads. Ad requests remain non-personalized. The app does not send mantras, religious preferences, microphone recordings or chanting history as ad-targeting parameters.
Where required, Google consent messages appear before ads are requested. Eligible free iPhone users may also receive Apple's App Tracking Transparency request. Allowing tracking lets the advertising SDK use the advertising identifier for measurement across other companies' apps and websites; declining does not prevent use of the app. Tracking permission can be changed in iOS Settings. If you use our contact form, your name, email address, selected platform and message are sent through FormSubmit to our support inbox at themansigoel@gmail.com so we can respond. FormSubmit processes the submission as a third-party form service; see FormSubmit privacy information. Please do not include passwords, payment-card details, private mantra text or sensitive personal information. Website enquiries are separate from app analytics and your local practice journal.
