What works offline in Mantra Chanting?
Updated 7 November 2026 · By the Mantra Chanting developer · iOS 1.6
Manual counting and locally saved practice are different from speech recognition, purchases and syncing. Here is what to expect from the iOS edition.
Manual practice works locally
Screen Tap on iPhone and local counting on Apple Watch can be used without an active internet connection. You can view history already saved on that device. Watch tap counting does not require an iPhone nearby.
Hands-free does not always mean offline
Clap / Peak uses microphone sound-level analysis. Mantra Focus uses Apple speech recognition; device, language and service availability determine whether recognition can work. Do not assume every speech request stays on-device or works offline. Screen Tap is the manual alternative.
Services that need a connection
- Downloading the app, checking current StoreKit prices, making or restoring purchases.
- iCloud and device synchronization when sharing saved practice between devices.
- Loading ads, usage analytics and receiving remote notifications.
Offline is not the same as no data collection
The iPhone edition includes AdMob and Firebase integrations. Free iPhone users may see banners and completion ads outside active counting. Premium removes ads; it should not be described as disabling every other SDK. Read the existing privacy policy for provider and platform details.
Check before travelling
Open the app and confirm your local history and counting controls work before going offline. Avoid deleting the app as a troubleshooting step if you have not checked how your saved history is retained.
